top speed, and position in order following run:
Left Lane: Mark Woznichak Runs 11.373/95.29, Now #5
Right Lane: Larry Miner Runs 5.729/249.90, Now #1
Woznichak shook hard immediately and coasted through. Miner had a
pretty good-looking run, easily the best of the round so far.
SONOMA, Calif. - SONOMA - Notes from round 2 qualifying in Top Alcohol
Funny Car:
Left Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.803/221.42, Now #9
Best prior run: 5.755/255.00, Was #9
Right Lane: Mark Woznichak Runs 5.779/252.76, Now #11
Best prior run: 11.373/95.29, Was #18
9:37 p.m. That was a long cleanup at a bad time. The remainder of the
session will have to be completed in about 23 minutes - not a problem as
long as there are no further delays.
Bellemeur flirted with the wall, but the run was apparently a clean one -
but no improvement. "The Woz" definitely made a big improvement with
his pass here, moving into the field to bump Drake. That put Dennis
Taylor on the bump spot at 6.352, but there isn't anyone left in the lanes
who can bump him.
SONOMA, Calif. - SONOMA - Notes from final, round 3 qualifying in Top
Alcohol Funny Car:
Left Lane: Sean Bellemeur Runs 5.865/241.54, Now #13
Best prior run: 5.755/255.00, Was #13
Right Lane: Mark Woznichak Runs 5.888/247.43, Now #16
Best prior run: 5.779/252.76, Was #16
With bumping out of the way, now it's all a matter of pairings.
Both made good-looking runs - straight and smooth - neither was within a
tenth of their best run this weekend.

Top Alcohol Funny Car at the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series, 21st
annual FRAM-Autolite NHRA Nationals:
(W) Jay Payne (Thunderslug/Valvoline Mustang) 0.119 5.567 260.97
(L) Mark Woznichak (Rancho Framing Camaro) 0.133 5.727 252.10
These two squared off to end the day and Payne made it look easy,
running low ET of the round by a tenth to earn lane choice against
August in the quarterfinals.
At the Autolite Nationals in Sonoma the Rancho Framing team continued
to make progress qualifying in the 16th position. Our best run was against
Jay Payne in the first round when we ran a 5.72 @ 252 mph to Jay's
winning 5.56 @ 260 mph. We lost in the first round, but the car is going
down the track on almost every run, so now we can start to tune the car
back to being a contender.
