Our last race of the year was marked with highs & lows as we battled to get into the quickest
qualified field ever in Top Alcohol Funny Car. In the first round of qualifying we torched a head
gasket at 1000 ft slowing to a 6.632 @ 251.77 mph, On the second qualifier we broke a lifter
and ran a 5.659 @ 258.76 with our spare motor we had put in from the prior round. We barely
made it into the very tough field in the #16 spot, which put us up against the #1 qualifier John
Lombardo. John Lombardo left with a slight lead, but Mark quickly caught him when John shook
and slowed to a 5.76 to Mark's winning 5.663 @ 258.22 mph. In they second round of
eliminations Mark was up against Clint Thompson. Clint left first running a 5.54 @ 261 beating
Mark’s much improved 5.59 & 260 mph. 2013 was a decent year running in the 5.50s a couple of
times & finally running 260 mph.
