Mark shook hard in the 3rd round of qualifying and had to lift running only a 7.088/136.52.and ended up qualifying in the #3 position. Mark’s first round opponent was Marty Nothstein who just started racing this year after being an Olympic gold medalist bicycle racer. Marty was forced to shut off when his car would not pull forward after backing up from the burn out giving Mark a single into the 2nd round. With no opponent in the next lane Mark lifted at half track when the car started to move around on him only running a 6.096 / 186.69. In the 2nd round Mark lined up with Division 4 champion Jimmy Jones in the Texas Tremor. Jimmy was out first, but Mark ran him down in the lights with a margin of victory of about 9 inches when he almost equaled his qualifying time running a 5.650 / 254.47 to the Tremors 5.711 / 237.96. Mark’s opponent in the semi-final round was Kebin Kinsley in the Wild Child Camaro tuned by Randy Anderson.
