With 26 entries for the 47th annual CARQUEST Auto Parts Winternationals at Pomona

     the   Ranch Framing     /        White cap      / Direct Transport   team knew they would
    have to be on the top of their game to make it to the final eliminations on Sunday. Our
    first run off the trailer, a 5.66 ended up being our best run of the weekend and put us
    in the #7 qualifying position. Our other qualifying runs were a 5.67 and a 5.69 and
    although we were consistent, we wanted to run a little faster. In the first round of
    competition we were lined up with Steve Gasparrelli and his Plumbing Concepts
    Monte Carlo. Mark left with a great .009 light and took the win with a 5.73 second run
    when trouble set in for Steve and he crossed the centerline and took out the half track
    cones. In the quarter final round we had to run Jay Payne who had lane choice over
    us by .02 seconds. Jay left first and went into to tire shake and Mark tried to run him
    down, but the his car drifted towards the centerline and took out the 1000 ft cone
    which disqualified his run. We are happy with the progress we have made with the
    Hoosier tires back on the car and once we get a few more things figured out we
    should be on the top of our game.

    "The Woz" mad a nice run, Gasparrelli shook and pedaled on the launch.

                                      Best prior run: 5.507/263.46, Was #1

                                      Best prior run: 5.661/250.92, Was #5
    Manzo just continues to make this look easy. His speed on this run backs his
    record number from yesterday. Today's run was just .001 slower than Thursday.
    Frank Manzo's incremental times: 60ft-0.954 sec., 330ft-2.459, 660ft-3.640/209.
    79mph, 1,000ft-4.653. The Woz slows from his Thursday numbers just a tiny bit
    and he remains #5.

    This was wild for both drivers. Gasparrelli rode the center stripe to mid track and
    then crossed over into The Woz's lane. Gasparrelli was able get the chutes out
    so he just drafted Woznichak and finished in his lane. Payne will have choice
    over The Woz.

    3:38 p.m. This just about got ugly. Woznichak got closer and closer to the center
    line and finally crossed all the way over into Payne's lane. The Woz was late and
    simply pulled in behind Payne and avoided the chutes when they came out.
