The Qualified Field for the Sixth annual NHRA SummitRacing.com Nationals in Las Vegas was very close,
with only 0.135 seconds separating the 1st and 16th qualifiers. The /
Camaro Top Alcohol Funny Car ended up in the 12th position with a 5.787 E.T. (and on that run Mark hit
the bump in the right lane in the top of 2nd gear causing the car get on the rev limiter which momentarily
slowed the car down). Although it wasn’t the position we wanted to be in, the run was the 6th quickest
time of the hot afternoon qualifying session. In the first round we matched up with #6 qualifier Ron
August. Mark left on him by .022 seconds and was ahead until he hit the bump in the right lane unloading
the car and Ron edged by him for the win running a 5.678 to Mark’s 5.734 a margin of victory of .0348
seconds (about 5 feet). Since the beginning of the year we have been working on a new combination that
will allow us to run quicker more consistently and we have had to work out a few bugs, but the car really
came around this weekend. We had the 4th fastest E.T. and MPH of the 1st round and along with Mark’s .
067 reaction time if we had been paired up against any other car than Ron August who ran low E.T. of the
race 5.678 we would have been in the next round. We would also like to welcome a new associate
sponsor, Pacific Drywall & Paint Inc. in Las Vegas, NV
