The Rancho Framing / White Cap Top Alcohol Funny Car started off good with a baseline run of 5.69
which put us in the #4 position. Unfortunately on that run we broke an intake valve adjuster, which
caused a valve to close and leaned out the rest of the motor and we burned up a piston. Because of
rain we lost one qualifying pass, so for the next session we tried to improve slightly, but only ran
another 5.69 and ended up in the #5 qualifying position. In the first round we lined up with Tim
Nemeth who had Steve Boggs tuning him for the weekend. We had added some clutch for the
round and did not open up the pedal gap enough. When Mark brought the RPMs up to stage the car
it pulled through the staging lights resulting in a red light. Thats drag racing, on to the next one.
